50 Burroughs St. via Taylor House Realty

According to the listing, "The stately Taylor Mansion is situated on prestigious Pondside corner lot has been called 'the hidden gem of Jamaica Plain' by the Boston Globe." Now, Jamaica Plain itself has been called the hidden gem of Boston because it is along Olmsted's Emerald Necklace of parks. Which makes this property sort of like a diamond within an emerald. Or a real estate turducken of sorts. Anyhow.

50 Burroughs St. is an Italianate Victorian just a block from Jamaica Pond, and offers a mix of thoughtful historic restoration with some contemporary amenities and updates. The listing mentions "Interior modern twist on Victorian practices, such as faux bois, and high ceilings decorated with artistic paint textures." As an aside, our research assistant had to double check that 'faux bois' wasn't something mis-spelled from Urban Dictionary.

The property asks $3.2 million for 9 bedrooms, 7.5 baths. At over 5,600 square feet, this works out to about $569 per square foot.
